FAQs

What day do you open?

We open at 10am on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We take cash and credit cards.

Can you help load my tree on my vehicle?

Absolutely, we’re here to help as much or as little as you need. We can net most tree sizes up to about 9’ with our netting machine, and we have twine to tie them down as well.

What are your prices for 2024?

Tree prices are competitive with your other options in the area. The real difference at HJM is that we have a laid-back and festive atmosphere, and the quality of our trees far exceeds anything else you will find in Central FL!

I’m a photographer, can I use your property, little red truck, ski lift, etc. for photo sessions?

Of course! This is one of the primary reasons we have the truck and ski lift here, both for customers and professional photographers. Email or call us for more information on pricing, availability, etc.

Can we cut down our own tree at your farm?

Not yet. We are growing a small group of Leyland Cypress for this purpose but they likely won’t be ready until 2026 at the earliest.

Why are the fresh cut Fraser Fir trees so expensive?

There is a LOT of labor involved in getting these trees from seeds to your home. These trees spend an average of about 5 years from planting seeds until they get planted in the fields, and then once in the fields they are touched every single year by someone with shearing tools until they’re cut down to be sold. After they get cut, they’re bailed up and loaded on our trailer for transport to Holly Jolly Meadows Christmas Tree Farm. It’s certainly a labor of love on our end. Trust me, we’re not flying around in our private jet on the weekends!

If I get my tree too soon, will it last through Christmas?

That’s a tough question to answer with certainty, but we do know for a fact that our trees will easily last into January IF you keep your tree stand full of water and don’t place the tree near a window or other heat source. The biggest enemy to a fresh cut tree is heat since they can’t take in water as quickly through the stump. So, if you keep your tree out of the sun, away from air vents, etc. it will be a rockstar until you’re ready to take it down.

What’s the best way to keep my tree fresh?

We’ve done a bit of research on this topic; it’s not exactly cut and dry (pun intended). The National Christmas Tree Association recommends keeping your tree stand full of plain ol’ water. There are tons of ‘alternatives’ out there like using warm water, adding your favorite sugary beverage, etc. but in our experience water works just fine. The real key here is to NEVER let the stump get dry! Once the tree gets dry, it’s only a matter of a few hours before the stump will coat itself with sap and seal up - and after that it’s definitely not going to drink anymore.

Why isn’t my tree drinking water?

Another mystery we can’t explain with a generic answer. In short, some trees drink in gulps and others do not. It really depends on the tree, the weather in NC before they’re cut, the weather in FL until you get it in your home, and the overall time since the tree was cut down. We will trim the stump on your tree for you but if it takes you more than a couple hours to get your tree into water, you will need to take a small cut off the bottom again to be sure the stump is opened up and not sapped over.

Can you pick out and hold a tree for me?

We can do this, however we prefer that you choose your own tree as everyone’s perfect tree is different. But, if you’re in a pinch we can certainly pick out a tree and hold it for you. Call us for more information.

Cutting down a tree is evil, why do you sell them?

Actually, not in this case. These trees are grown for the express purpose of being cut down when they reach a particular height. The fields are planted on spacing patterns based on how big they want those particular trees to be when cut so that they have adequate light and growing space. If they don’t get cut down on schedule, they will begin to overcrowd their neighbors and make everyone unhappy. Nobody likes a neighbor that stays in their bubble!

Do you offer delivery of your products?

We don’t have the resources to support a delivery crew yet, but maybe someday in the future.
